Throughout the program, we will look at the qualities and characteristics of a Teacher of Presence across several levels, the stumbling blocks we may encounter, and how the expressions of teaching Presence are as varied and unprecedented as the moments in which they unfold.

What is The Eckhart Tolle School of Awakening?
The Eckhart Tolle School of Awakening is a special program Eckhart offers only once every few years. It’s one of his deepest and most comprehensive offerings and is designed for those ready to more fully embody Presence in their own lives, and also be of greater service to humanity.
Eckhart has chosen to focus the next School of Awakening on what he believes to be both the primary purpose of our lives and something of increasing importance in our times: becoming what he calls “a Teacher of Presence.”
As Eckhart explains, humanity is moving through turbulent times, and it is extremely critical for humans to awaken to a new level of consciousness in the midst of challenge and upheaval. Each one of us has the opportunity to experience peace and ease—and to help others do the same—as we move through each day in a state of abiding Presence.
What is a teacher of Presence?
One of the positive effects of the shift in consciousness at the heart of Eckhart Tolle’s teaching is to become a Teacher of Presence. There are many different ways to communicate Presence to others—through our everyday activities and interactions, through our work—and for some of us, as a formal spiritual teacher. The important thing is that we step into the call to embody and become a Teacher of Presence in whatever way feels authentic to us.
As Eckhart explains, it has never been more important than right now for people to fully commit to being Teachers of Presence. It is what our world needs. That is why he has created this offering of The School of Awakening, turning his attention to helping us rise during this critical time in human history.
When you shift more continuously to a new way of Being, the way in which you move through your day, approach situations, work, and relate to those around you is imbued with so much Presence that your life becomes a teaching for others. This is what it means to be a Teacher of Presence. And this is how we live our highest purpose and change the world for the better.
What are the details of The School of Awakening program?
You’ll be part of a five-month immersion program and learn directly from Eckhart. The School of Awakening also includes an in-person retreat with Eckhart and his teaching partner, Kim Eng. Kim’s teachings complement everything you will learn throughout the program and enable a deepening of Presence in our physical form.
You’ll also receive monthly online teachings from Eckhart, participate in Live Q&A sessions, and access to online community and group meditations to help support the integration of the material.
In addition to being able to learn from Eckhart and Kim over several months, one of the most powerful parts of the program is the community of participants that you’ll connect with from all over the world who are also dedicated to a path of awakening and service.

KIM ENG

1. IN-PERSON Retreat with Eckhart and Kim

We will begin our journey together and connect as a community during an in-person retreat with Eckhart and Kim. In today’s uniquely challenging times, it is vital that we stay connected to what Eckhart calls our “essential nature”—the formless or transcendent dimension of Being that is the source of our highest wisdom.
We will experience six days of in-depth teaching sessions, practical Q&A, community immersion, stillness in nature, and much more—all amid the pristine beauty of Lake Louise in Alberta, Canada. The live retreat will be held at the iconic Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, where we are also offering a special rate on retreat rooms.
1. Virtual Retreat

2. Five Online TRAINING MODULES with Eckhart

3. Embodiment Sessions with Kim Eng
Throughout The School of Awakening, students will have the opportunity to work with and learn from Kim Eng. Kim will share inner-body meditations, pain-body meditations, and Presence Through Movement practices. Many of these teachings and practices are ideal to learn if you’re looking to be a formal teacher of Presence. However, they’re also essential practices to integrate in your life even if you’re not a formal teacher, because they’re very helpful for managing challenging times and living a spiritual life.
4. Live Community Meditation Gatherings
Eckhart often reminds us that “the gaps between the words are more important than the words themselves.” Throughout The School of Awakening program, you’ll have the opportunity to deepen your realization of the “vertical dimension” through silent online group meditations. MONTH 1
To begin your experience, you’ll attend a live event and retreat taught by Eckhart and Kim at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise on the shores of Lake Louise in the beautiful Canadian Rockies.
To begin your experience, you’ll attend a virtual retreat.
You’ll experience daily teachings and Q&A sessions with Eckhart, along with Presence Through Movement and Q&A sessions with Kim.
The in-person program is limited to 600 participants.
The event will be live streamed for those who can’t make the retreat. Also, a virtual-only student option will be offered at a later date.

MONTH 2
Teaching from Stillness and the Unknown
Our highest intelligence and ability to be effective as Teachers of Presence lies in our openness to whatever is arising in the present moment and our comfort with the unknown, not in teaching from the known.
Topics included:
- The art of deep listening
- The qualities of a “true meeting” between two people
- How to hold space for others through anchoring in the inner body
- Speaking from direct experience, and how to teach from Presence and not from the thinking mind
- The importance of being comfortable with not knowing
- How to speak, write, and teach from Presence
- Guidance for how to have one-on-one meetings with people and also how to host small group sessions that are rooted in stillness
MONTH 3
Overcoming the Obstacles to Becoming a Teacher of Presence
Whether it is because we lack confidence or assertiveness, or think for some other reason we are just “not ready,” this session looks at the obstacles to becoming a teacher of Presence.
Topics covered include:
- Why we are always teaching (or not teaching) from Presence
- The fallacy of readiness
- Determining the form your teaching will take that is right for you
- Can you really be an effective Teacher of Presence as a “frequency holder,” or do you need to be the kind of person who enjoys being in the public eye?
- How to address fears of rejection and consciously handle people’s negative (and positive) opinions about you as a teacher
- What if I need to keep my “day job” in order to earn a living… how can I incorporate being a teacher of Presence into my life and handle issues of money with consciousness?
- Practicing nonattachment to the outcome
MONTH 4
Transcending Drama
It can be tempting to try to solve people’s problems for them, but that is not really the job of a Teacher of Presence. This module looks at how we can most effectively interact with other people when they bring their suffering to us and are looking for relief.
Topics covered include:
- How to avoid getting caught in people’s emotions, traumas, and life situations
- What to do when you feel yourself becoming reactive with someone
- How to remain free from the pain-body of others when you are still learning to manage your own pain-body reactivity
- What is the role of empathy in connecting with others?
- What does it mean to offer “wise counsel,” and how is that different from advice and problem-solving?
- What are some of the common mistakes people make when they first start coaching or counseling people, and how can these mistakes be avoided?
MONTH 5
Avoiding Ego Inflation and Other Pitfalls of Becoming a Teacher
Many teachers seem to become hijacked by some form of ego inflation. What are the more subtle signs of ego inflation in teachers? How can we be sure to avoid ego inflation in our own evolution as teachers?
Topics covered include:
- Identifying the “spiritual ego” in others and in ourselves—what are the telltale signs?
- Can you be an effective teacher even if you haven’t become completely free of your ego?
- What are the unique egoic challenges that are brought forward by teaching situations?
- How can someone relate consciously to an increase in their wealth or power?

The basic criteria for enrolling in The School of Awakening is an interest in and commitment to deepening your experience of Presence and exploration of the awakening process. To get the most out of the program, we ask that you commit to attending or watching the retreat and both the opening and closing talks in their entirety, watch the video teachings each month when they are released, and block out times for the Live teachings.
We understand financial hardships and want to support all those on the path of awakening. Limited full scholarships and partial scholarships are available to those with legitimate financial needs for the virtual program, not the in-person event.
To apply for a scholarship, please send an email to soa@eckharttolle.com once the virtual version has opened in 2023 to request a scholarship application, and we will send you an application form for the virtual version of School of Awakening.
When you sign up for the program, you are automatically registered for the in-person retreat with Eckhart and Kim. You are responsible for room and board and travel at the live event. You will receive an email after you enroll with information about discounted group rates for lodging.
Yes! Every live event broadcast, meditation, and bonus broadcast will be professionally recorded and available on the online student platform.
Tuition includes online access to the in-person retreat (excludes travel, room and board), five months of online training, Live Q&A sessions with Eckhart and Kim, experiential practices, meditations, and a private social community. All of your recordings and teachings will be available in a private student platform for easy access so you can own the content forever. Additionally, you will receive a Certificate of Completion for The Eckhart Tolle School of Awakening upon completion of the program.

Yes. All events will be livestreamed and recorded. A virtual retreat option will become available at a later date for a discounted price. Please stay tuned for more information.
The Light of the World recorded retreat will be available once the course begins. Your free trial membership of Eckhart Tolle Now will begin at the course start. You can access the digital download of For Those Who Serve immediately upon purchase.
Becoming a Teacher of Presence tickets are refundable until April 1, 2023, less a $100 cancellation fee per person. After April 1, cancellation requests and refund requests will not be accepted except in cases of medical necessity or emergency, for the participant or immediate family members, with proper documentation. Retreat pricing does not include meals, lodging, or transportation for the event. We do allow you to transfer your enrollment to another person through selling your ticket or gifting it. In order to transfer, you must contact us at soa@eckharttolle.com
